The NDIS Price Guide features many words and terms that can be confusing at first glance, so we’ve broken them down. Our NDIS Price Guide Navigator can help you to understand how support item pricing applies to you.

MMM 1-7 Remote Pricing

The NDIS uses the Modified Monash Model (MMM) to determine how remote a participants location is. The more remote an area is, the more service providers can charge for delivering supports. There are three price levels, based on how remote an area is…

  • National Non-Remote (MMM 1-5) - These are areas with large populations, in or near major cities. Participants in these areas are charged at the standard NDIS price rate.

  • National Remote (MMM 6) – These are areas a bit further away from major cities and participants are charged around 40% higher than the standard NDIS price rate.

  • National Very Remote (MMM 7) - These areas are very far away from major cities and participants are charged around 50% higher than the standard NDIS price rate.

Not sure which area applies to you? The Australian Department of Health provides the Health Workforce Locator, a handy map-based tool showing which health workforce classifications and incentives apply in different areas of Australia.

Travel

Service providers can charge participants for the time it takes them to travel and deliver a support. The maximum amount they’re able to charge depends on the participant’s location and must be agreed upon beforehand.

Cancellations

Service providers can charge you a cancellation fee if a participant doesn’t turn up to a service or cancel it with less than 10-business days’ notice. In these cases, providers can charge the full price of the support. Effective 1 July, participants will only have to give 2 business days’ notice when cancelling a service, rather than 10 days.

NDIA Reporting

Service providers are sometimes asked to provide the NDIS with an update on how a participant’s supports are helping them to achieve their NDIS goals. Providers can charge for the time it takes them to write this report, usually at their usually hourly rate.

Non-F2F

This stands for Non-Face-to-Face Supports and refers to activities that are delivered without the participant present. These activities must relate to a specific disability support item.

Irregular SIL

Additional SIL support that is required due to an unexpected event occurring outside of usual SIL supports.

Units

The NDIS payment system includes units of measure for each support item. This includes; Each (E), Hour (H), Daily (D), Week (W, WK), Month (M) and Annual (A)
