[00:00:01] So I’m filming them all in one go… I know.

[00:00:09] Hi everyone, Tristan here, and welcome to another episode of My NDIS Journey.

[00:00:14] Today we’re talking about plan management — so buckle up.

[00:00:19] When you go to your planning meeting, you’ll need to decide how you want to manage your NDIS funds.

[00:00:23] There are three ways you can do this: NDIA-managed, self-managed, or plan-managed.

[00:00:34] Let’s unpack them one by one.

[00:00:36] If you choose NDIA management, the NDIA manages your funds for you.

[00:00:41] They process invoices, help with service agreements, and handle the administrative side of things.

[00:00:50] The limitation is that you can only use NDIS-registered providers.

[00:00:57] So it reduces flexibility, but it also takes a lot of the effort off you.

[00:01:09] On the other end of the spectrum is self-management.

[00:01:16] This means you take care of everything — invoicing, accessing the NDIS portal, and paying your providers.

[00:01:25] It involves more effort, but it gives you much more freedom.

[00:01:32] For example, you don’t have to use registered providers.

[00:01:36] If you want a gardener, you can hire your local gardener to do the work you need at home.

[00:01:41] So there’s lots of flexibility — but more responsibility.

[00:01:45] Is there an in-between option?

[00:01:48] Yes — and that’s plan management.

[00:01:50] A plan manager handles the paperwork and invoicing for you.

[00:01:58] But you still keep the freedom and flexibility to choose the providers you want.

[00:02:06] So what did I choose?

[00:02:13] Plan management.

[00:02:16] I work all day and have busy schedules.

[00:02:21] The last thing I want to do when I get home is deal with invoicing and admin.

[00:02:24] I’d rather uncork a bottle of wine, sit back, relax, and enjoy myself.

[00:02:28] With plan management, they take care of the reporting and invoicing.

[00:02:33] I get more freedom — and I still have the flexibility to choose the services I want.

[00:02:39] If you’re considering plan management, you might be wondering how to find a plan manager.

[00:02:45] You can speak to your Local Area Coordinator (LAC) and ask about plan managers in your area.

[00:02:58] You can also use the NDIS provider search tool and look up providers by postcode.

[00:03:07] Or you can jump onto Clickability and check ratings and reviews for plan managers near you.

[00:03:15] That’s it, guys — another episode done and dusted.
