<p><strong>[00:00:00]</strong> Hi everyone, Tristan here, and welcome to another episode of My NDIS Journey.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:04]</strong> Today’s episode is going to be a little bit of a downer.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:06]</strong> I’ve received my NDIS plan — and I was very underwhelmed and disappointed by it.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:12]</strong> So today I’m going to explore the ways I’m trying to remedy it, so you can do the same if you need to.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:24]</strong> I received my plan late in the afternoon, about an hour before close of business.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:29]</strong> I opened it, had a look, and was quite distressed by what was inside.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:33]</strong> It didn’t include the necessary supports for me to live the life I want to live.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:37]</strong> And it didn’t match what I thought I had communicated in my planning meeting.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:42]</strong> So I knew I needed to find a solution — and that’s what I’ve been doing over the past few weeks.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:49]</strong> The first thing I did was try to contact my planner to discuss how my funding had been allocated.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:54]</strong> Unfortunately, my planner had gone on two weeks’ leave, so I couldn’t speak with her directly.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:00]</strong> I was able to speak to an Assistant Director at the NDIA, one of the regional officers.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:04]</strong> She unpacked it somewhat, but I still felt unclear about what to do next.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:11]</strong> The next step was to request a plan review.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:15]</strong> There are a couple of ways to lodge a plan review.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:18]</strong> We did ours over the phone by calling the NDIA.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:21]</strong> There are also forms available on the NDIS website that you can complete and submit through your portal.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:28]</strong> The important thing is — you’re not alone during the plan review process.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:31]</strong> Reach out to people you trust.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:33]</strong> Speak to your family and friends — they might think of things you hadn’t considered including in your review.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:41]</strong> Also speak to your Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or your Support Coordinator, if you have one.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:49]</strong> Get the conversation going — it definitely helps.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:56]</strong> I’ve been advised by the NDIA that you can use funds from your first plan while waiting for your plan review.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:03]</strong> So it’s really important to start using your funds as soon as your plan is approved.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:08]</strong> Start accessing the services you need and use those supports.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:13]</strong> Importantly, that creates evidence to support your plan review.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:19]</strong> Throughout this whole process, you have a voice.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:21]</strong> If you’re not happy, don’t just accept it — speak up.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:26]</strong> If you don’t act now, it may become harder further down the track.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:32]</strong> You are the expert in your own life.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:34]</strong> Fight for what you want. Fight for what you deserve.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:38]</strong> So let’s recap.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:41]</strong> I received my plan and was really disappointed with it.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:43]</strong> I’ve lodged a plan review.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:45]</strong> I’ve started using my funds while waiting for the review.</p>
<p><strong>[00:02:48]</strong> Now it’s a waiting game — continuing to use supports and gather evidence.</p>
