Meet Elise
At just 5 years of age, Elise experienced her first symptoms of Lupus, an auto-immune disease well-known for attacking the body - and in Elise's case, her spinal cord. Today, the most important thing for Elise is to be able to get about independently.
"The NDIS has helped because it funded things like my lightweight wheelchair which I can take apart and get in and out of the car myself," says Elise.
Elise has had plan management and support coordination with Plan Partners for 3 years.
"Plan Partners have helped a lot in terms of they've taken on the financial stuff I don't like to do, so I can do more of the fun stuff like my sport and wheelchair racing."
"The most important thing for me is to be able to drive independently, to go visit a friend. That would be kind of simple for an able-bodied person to do, but for me every little thing gets kind of complicated."

<p><strong>[00:00:05]</strong> <em>Speaker 1 (Interviewer):</em> How has the NDIS helped you?</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:07]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> The NDIS has funded this chair here, so that means I can lift it into my car by myself.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:12]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> Yesterday I got my license. We ended up getting some modifications to my car.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:18]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> Little things like getting a strap to attach to the boot, so when the boot’s up I can grab it to pull it back down.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:24]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> We’ve just finally got a ramp put in at the back of the house and redone the bathroom so I can now use the family bathroom, which is really nice and pretty essential.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:37]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> Now I feel like I’m set up at home and I’ve got my chair, I’m sort of like, good to go.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:44]</strong> <em>Speaker 1 (Interviewer):</em> How have Plan Partners helped you?</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:47]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> Plan Partners has been able to take on a lot of the financial stuff, so I don’t have to do all the invoices and sort all that out.</p>
<p><strong>[00:00:57]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> I still do some of it, but really I’m just doing the icing on the top, and they do all the yucky stuff that I don’t like to do.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:03]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> That means I can do more of the fun stuff like my sport and wheelchair racing, which I really enjoy, and focus on the things I really want to do.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:12]</strong> <em>Speaker 1 (Interviewer):</em> What are your hopes for the future?</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:15]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> Just being able to drive independently, you know, like going to visit a friend’s house.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:20]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> That’s something that’s simple for an able-bodied person to do, but for me every little thing gets kind of complicated.</p>
<p><strong>[00:01:23]</strong> <em>Speaker 2 (Participant):</em> So yeah, I think that would be really fun.</p>
