You’re not alone in managing your NDIS plan

Managing your own NDIS plan can often leave you feeling as though you're running a business.

According to Sean Dempsey, CEO of Plan Partners, "With the right support, your NDIS journey doesn’t have to be a hard one".

I’ve met lots of incredible people whose lives have been improved by the NDIS - but I’ve also heard stories of how difficult the process can be. Fortunately, with the right support, your NDIS journey doesn’t have to be hard.

The NDIS is still new in some areas and, as with any major change, there are bound to be some early issues as everyone adjusts. If you’re new to the scheme, the shift can be especially stressful. Not only do you need to get your head around the ins-and-outs of the new system, but the administration and workload that comes with managing your NDIS plan can often leave you feeling as though you’re running a business.

I frequently hear from people who weren’t aware of all the help that’s out there for NDIS participants. There are plenty of organisations, like Plan Partners, who can help to manage your NDIS plan and take away much of the hassle.

The two key services available

  1. Plan Management, which leaves the management of your NDIS plan, including your funds, and all the tricky paperwork to a professional.

  2. Support Coordination, which helps you find and connect with the right service providers for you.

These services will help you to get the most out of your plan, so you can focus on the things that really matter. And even better? They don’t have to cost you anything, as both can be funded within your NDIS plan. While there’s some eligibility criteria for Support Coordination, all you need to do is ask for Plan Management and you’ll receive it.

With so many benefits, it’s a shame that these services aren’t mentioned in planning meetings or widely promoted in NDIS materials. So be sure to ask about them in your NDIS plan meeting, or call Plan Partners on 1300 333 700 to find out more - because you don’t have to do it alone!

Top Tips for when you're receiving your NDIS Plan

  • Ask for Plan Management and check your eligibility for Support Coordination.
  • Be prepared and read up before your planning meeting.
  • Be specific with why you want funding for certain supports.
  • Know what’s in your plan and how to get the most from your funds.
  • Don’t be afraid to reach out for help!
